Signing Day Special- Will Kerr

Will Kerr will play college football at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.

“Will’s hard work and leadership in the trenches led us to win tough games. He was critical to the success of our offensive and defensive lines,” said Cranbrook Head Coach Ben Jones.

A 3-year varsity player, Will’s knack for playing tough-nosed football led him to starting roles on the

offensive and defensive lines. His determination and tenacity helped him to become proficient in

pass blocking, run blocking, and stopping the run.

“I’ve seen Will’s continuous development as player”, said Coach Jones. “He’s reached deep within to get here.”

Will was named a captain his senior year. Always in the weight room working out, Will led a culture of preparedness and dedication at Cranbrook that translated to wins on the football the field.

In an outstanding performance, Will made 9 tackles and 1 sack against Walled Lake Central during a tough low-scoring battle that ended in a 10-0 win for the Cranes.

“He has been a difference maker for us,” said Coach Jones.

Will amassed 113 solo tackles, 9 sacks, 7 TFL’s, and 2 interceptions in his career at Cranbrook.

In another memorable performance, Will intercepted a pass in the 2017 MHSAA Division Championship against Detroit Mumford. With time running out, his interception stopped Mumford’s drive to tie the game. Will sealed the Cranes 7-0 victory, and its first ever divisional championship trophy.

Will was named the inaugural recipient of the CK Football General Pete Dawkins Award. Named for an outstanding Cranbrook football alum, Heisman Trophy award winner from West Point, and retired US Army General, this award is for a Cranbrook football player that embodies toughness, leadership, and execution.

“He’s played a definitive part in Cranbrook’s football success,” said Coach Jones.

His other awards include the following: 2019 Detroit Free Press All North Team, Honorable Mention; 2019 Detroit News All-North Team, Honorable Mention; 2019 All-League, CHSL; Top Performer, 2019 Rising Stars GVSU Showcase.

Will received offers from Carleton, Cornell, Oberlin, and Case Western Reserve.
