Cranbrook Signing Day 2019- Cranes Rising

Danny Files on National Signing Day at Cranbrook.

Danny Files will play college football at Valparaiso in Valparaiso, IN.

“Danny’s hard work and leadership on the defensive line helped us win tough games this year. He was an instrumental piece of the puzzle for us”, said Cranbrook's Head Coach Steward.

A 4-year varsity player, Danny developed the techniques of playing in the trenches of the offensive and defensive lines. Using his grit and determination, Danny became proficient in blocking and stopping the run.

"Danny has come along way in his development as player," said Coach Steward. "He's dug deep within himself to get to this point."

His presence on the defensive line helped to define one of the most notable Cranbrook defenses ever.

Danny Files served as a captain for the 2019 Cranbrook football team.

As a starter, Danny played on a defense that shutout their opponents 7 times, and allowed only one touchdown in 4 more games.

“Our ability to shut down the run effectively grew over the last 2 years. Danny was a key factor in the improvement”, said Steward.

His list of awards include the following- 2018 Detroit News All-North Honorable Mention; 2018 All-Catholic, CHSL; 2017 All-League , CHSL; 2018 All Star Game participant; Legacy Football; Class of 2018 Watch List by the D Zone.

In his most memorable game, Danny made 7 tackles against Divine Child in his senior year. While Cranbrook didn’t win that contest, Danny received a Player of the Game Award from MaxPreps.

Danny Files was named to the 2019 All-Catholic Team by the CHSL.

“Danny met the challenge and gave an outstanding effort,” said Steward.

Danny excelled in other sports, notably lacrosse and basketball. A fierce presence in the low post, Danny was a leading rebounder for the Cranes Basketball team.

Danny received offers to play college football from Lawrence Tech, Oberlin College, Tiffin, and Valparaiso.
