The Cranes (3-1) will face the Allen Park Cabrini Monarchs (3-1) in their CHSL division opener in Week 5 action.  Both teams are coming off losses last week.

Cranbrook comes off a major game last week, being outlasted by Divine Child in a CHSL crossover game 28-14 on the road.  But the silver lining still remains-the Cranes gave Divine Child all they could handle.

“I was extremely proud of the team’s performance last week, “said Cranes Head Coach Joe D’Angelo.  “They played with toughness and intensity against a bigger team. Our two turnovers were the difference in the game.”

Despite the loss, Cranbrook still has a very potent team, outscoring all opponents 128-35 this season.

Senior QB Trevor McConnell has 9 passing TDs on the year, having thrown for 586 yards and a QBR of 166.6.  He has completed nearly 60% of his passes.

Senior RB Aaron Wiggins is averaging over 11 yards per carry, having rushed for 282 yards, and scoring 4 TD. Junior WR Kobi Russell has 13 receptions for 245 yards and 3 TD’s.

Senior DE Chris Smith leads the defensive line with 24 tackles, while sophomore LB Jack Fairman leads the LB corps with 37 tackles. Senior Marqis Stokes leads the secondary with 17.5 tackles and 2 interceptions.

Senior K Pierson Cooke is 17 of 18 on PAT’s, and has a 42-yard punting average.

As the Cranes turn their attention to Cabrini, the campaign begins to return to the Prep Bowl and defend their Catholic League title.

“This is the second part of our season, where we look to secure both our birth in the Prep Bowl and the MHSAA playoffs, “said Coach D’Angelo.  “We have our work cut out for us.”

Divisional opponents Cabrini, Lutheran North, Riverview Gabriel Richard, and University Liggett all have Cranbrook in their sights.

“Our division continues to get better and more competitive. Everyone is motivated to find new ways to win.  That’s what good coaching does for a team. We look forward to a good game against Cabrini”, said Coach D’Angelo.

The game will be played Saturday at on the Cranbrook campus at the Del Walden Field.  The address is 550 Lone Pine Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304.  Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
