The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes will face the Madison Heights Lamphere Rams in the 1st round of the state playoffs. This game is the MHSAA Division 4, Region 4, District 1 first round.

Lamphere comes into this game with a 6-0 record on the year.

The Rams defeated St. Clair Shores South Lake, Warren Lincoln, Centerline, New Haven, Clawson, and Hazel Park.

After going 2-9 last year, Lamphere has made a great turn around.

“Lamphere has really pushed their program forward after a few tough years,” said Cranes Head Coach Steve Graf. “Their coaches have done a good job of putting things in order.”

A longtime member of the Macomb Area Conference (MAC), Lamphere last made the state playoffs in 2017, where they lost to Cranbrook 30-0.

This year they are the MAC Bronze division champs.

Cranbrook enters this game with an 0-4 record on the year.

The Cranes were defeated by Redford Union, Macomb Lutheran North, Dearborn Divine Child, and Detroit Loyola.

The Cranes were 6-4 last year.

A member of the Catholic League, Cranbrook made the playoffs last year, losing to Harper Woods Chandler Park in the district semi-final.

This is the 7th straight playoff appearance by the Cranes.

“We have had a growing season and there has been a lot of development in our back up players”, said Coach Graf.

In their only three meetings, Cranbrook has been victorious over Lamphere each time, gaining hard fought wins in 2014, 2015, and in the opening round of the 2017 playoffs.

“Lamphere always brings a strong running attack. We will be tested physically by their offensive line and running backs. It will be a good matchup.”

The game will be played Friday October 30th, 2020 at Lamphere. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.
