Cranbrook holds off Bishop Foley 43-41 in CHSL action

The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes survived a late charge to defeat the Madison Heights Bishop Foley Ventures 43-41 on Saturday. This was the first divisional game for both teams in their CHSL Intersectional I schedule.


The win moves Cranbrook to 2-2 on the season, while Foley falls to 3-1.


Senior QB Shane Wittenburg went 9 for16 and 110 yards with 1 TD passing, while rushing for 25 yards and 2 TD’s. Junior QB Preston Washer went 4 for 3 and 81 yards and 2 TD’s. Junior Alex Yolles caught 6 passes for 110 yards and 3 TD’s.


Senior QB Dylan Gough went 17 for 33 on 287 yards and 3 TD’s in the loss for the Ventures.


“Bishop Foley came well-prepared today and didn’t quit,” said Cranes Head Coach Nick LaFontaine. “They challenged us in every phase of the game and forced us to give one of our best efforts. Kudos to their coaching staff and players for a great game.”


Both teams continue their divisional games next week. Cranbrook marches on to face Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard on the road, while Bishop Foley will take on Macomb Lutheran North at home.
