Signing Day Special- William Mirza

William Mirza will play college football at Carelton College in Northfield, MN.

“William has a knack for the game of football. He’s found ways to constantly improve himself and become useful in many situations.” said Cranes Head Coach Ben Jones.

William played the offensive and defensive lines, and became a notable journeyman, playing center, guard, offensive and defensive tackle, and lineman on special teams. He became a vital element in providing the right configurations for a successful Cranbrook team.

"His versatility and flexibility gave us options," said Jones. "He's enabled us to develop the right personnel package in game situations."

His talent on the field is only surpassed by his love of family and his team.

During his junior year, a family tragedy took the lives of several of his close relatives over the holiday season.

“William grew mentally stronger from that incident”, said Jones. ”He demonstrated more leadership and willingness to encourage others. He resolved not to let his team mates down even though he was the one who had the loss.”

“I’m proud of the man he is becoming.”

In a memorable game against Riverview Gabriel Richard, William opened up many lanes for Cranbrook runners as the team won that contest 15-7 on the road to the MHSAA state playoffs.

“William is a dedicated team player that will be a benefit to his college football program, “said Coach Jones.

William received an offer from Carelton College, and held interests from the University of Chicago and Tufts University.
