Cranbrook clipped by Loyola 16-0 in CHSL showdown.


Junior DE Bryce Hall had 10 tackles including 2 tackles for a loss in the Cranes loss to Loyola.

The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes were defeated by the Detroit Loyola Bulldogs 16-0. The loss puts Cranbrook at 3-3 on the season.

The Cranes were tied 0-0 at the half, but lost the lead after a 1-yard TD run by Loyola’s sophomore QB Anthony Garrett. A successful two-point conversion by junior RB Malik Marable left the score at 8-0 early in the 3rd quarter.

With the Cranes backed into their own endzone, a bad snap and fumble led to a Cranbrook safety.

The Bulldogs led 10-0.at the end of the 3rd.

Cranbrook forced a fumble but could not capitalize on the possession. The Loyola defense would prove its worth on several possessions.

A late 4th quarter TD run by junior RB Marquez Henderson sealed the Bulldog victory at 16-0.

Senior Tariq Muhammad had 12 tackles and junior Bryce Hall had10 tackles in the game. Senior Xavier Harrison had a fumble recovery for the Cranes.

Entering the bottom half of their regular season, Cranbrook moves on to face Macomb Lutheran North in a CHSL crossover game on the road next week.

Cranbrook can earn a potential berth to the MHSAA playoffs with two more victories and will solidify a berth with three.

“We are focused on making the playoffs now. We are taking one game at a time”, said Coach Jones.

Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. at Macomb Lutheran North next Friday.
