Game Preview- The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes (5-1) (3-0) face the Allen Park Cabrini Monarchs

The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes (5-1) (3-0) will play the Allen Park Cabrini Monarchs (2-4) (0-3) in a CHSL Intersectional divisional match up for week 7. This game is the final divisional match up for Cranbrook, with one divisional game remaining for Cabrini.

The Monarchs come in to this game with a win over Star Academy and a victory over Summit Academy. But with losses to Redford Union, Warren Michigan Collegiate, Riverview Gabriel Richard, and Madison Heights Bishop Foley, Cabrini is looking to salvage their season.

“Our kids will play good, hard, disciplined football,” second year Cabrini Head Coach Ken Briere told CabriniAthletics.org earlier this year. “And we expect to rise to all of the challenges in front of us.”

A win over Cranbrook in week 7 would be significant.

Cabrini has an outside chance at the MHSAA playoffs if they get to 5 wins. With 2 more games beyond this one, the Monarchs need to beat the Cranes if they want to establish post season eligibility. 5 wins would also mean the Monarchs best season since 2012.

But the Cranes have their own view of this game’s significance.

A win here would clinch a MHSAA playoff spot for the 3rd year in a row for Cranbrook. It will also complete a sweep of the CHSL Intersectional I division opponents- another potential first for the Cranes since entering the CHSL in 2010.

“We want the boys to prepare each for game with the same intensity, “said Cranes head Coach Joe D’Angelo. “There are many games to go and each one has its own importance.”

The Cranes are 5-1, with wins over Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes, Hamtramck, Detroit University Prep, Macomb Lutheran North, and Riverview Gabriel Richard. Their only loss was to Harper Woods Chandler Park.

The two teams have met 5 times, with Cabrini leading the series 3-2.

The game will be played at the Monarchs new home field located at 15305 Wick Rd, Allen Park, MI 48101. The game will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
